The Big Girl bed at almost 2!

Since last sunday 26/12/2010 we removed Leen's baby bed.

We got a bed side as a birthday gift on her birthday. So now she sleeps in the big girls bed like "Lamar" her cousin! :) Thats what she says.... big girl zay maaar?? and i say yeeees!

Anyway she was doing well the first couple of days simply coz i used to put her in it after she sleeps.
Yestrday however, she woke up while i was putting her in it and she was cryign coz she wanted to sleep on my lap. I put her for a while but then i had to do other things... and when i put her back on the bed she woke up and cried.

Her daddy intervened and took over while i tried to take a shower and prepare everythign for next morning!

ANyway eevrytime he told her good night and left her alone... she would call him and say "Papppyyyyyyyyyyy..... ta3aly" which means come!

She did that so many times he was falling apart and decided he will sleep beside her tonight. So he did and only then did she finally sleep!

I know we're gonna have a bit of a hard tiem till she adjusts to the bigh girls bed... but i think its ok! we shall handle inshalla!

Almost a month away from 2

Well Leen should be turning two next Jan. On the 22nd to be exact.

Meanwhile, i think she understands alot better what i say now.
When i am upset with her and her dad asks her why mommy is upset with you she tells him.
I used to feel she was blank when it comes to why im furious... but turns out... she isnt that BLANK!

Anyway yesterday i was cleaning the house and i decided that she can help. SO i gave her a towel and sprayed glance on the table tops and TV table and told her to wipe them . She so gladly helped.. And kept on saying again.. or put water here mommy (Mayya hena mummy). :)

She was totally adorable.. and weird enough.. she actually cleaned her spot pretty well. Maybe coz her arm is just too short to go to many places instead of right infront of her. So she keeps on wiping the same spot for some time!! :)

Im having her birthday party early this year. It will be on the 24th of December since some of the family members wont be here on her actual birthday. Not to mention that fact that her cousins have exams on these days! So i thought what the hell! Lets have a party when we can!

I decided to make it a costume party so everyone will get dressed in something.. including adults. Some of the adults were so caught up in what THEY will wear... that they totally forgot about their own kids costume!! :)))))))))) FUNNY PARENTS!

Leen will be a bee. I actually got her yellow butterfly wings which dont look like bee wings at all. But arent butterflies segmented anyway? Maybe ill call her a butterfly!! It wont really make a difference to her! :)

Not yet pampers free

We've been training Leen to live pampers free at home. She is already being trained in her nursery but now im doing it at home too. And boy is it hectic!!

She's been going well with the stool in the toilet but the pee is just not working that well with her.

Anyway last saturday was the worst day. She literally peed every 15 minutes! And she says i want potty and before she moves she just pees right where she is standing. Its disgusting and alot of cleaning to do.

Ofcourse i have already covered my sofa and her fav arm chair in plastic bags.. not to mention her bed for afternoon naps without pampers. I have also rolled up the carpet in the area where she sits and placed a mat instead so she wouldnt have to sit on the cold porcelein floor.

However this last saturday was too much to handle. I screamed at her.. i even gave her a smack on the foot. I put her in her naughty spot. She more or less spent most of the day in that naughty spot.

By the end of the day i just felt there was somethign wrong!!! She is either doing this on purpose or has a bladder infection that is not allowing her to pee right or hold it in for enough time to go to the toilet.

I went to the doc the next day and he told me that if there is no fever, or pain while urination then she is probably bored or tired or just annoyed with you!

He recommended that i dont scream at her and that saying im upset and putting her in the naughty spot should be enough.

I guess i'll have to give it another shot... so i hope she get better in time coz i'm already beat!

Africa Safari Park

Last Friday we went to Africa Safari Park. We rented a minivan (11 seats) coz we were 3 families with kids :) It was a long ride to the park and Leen fidgeted like Hell. She even had to poop in her pampers which is somethign we havent done in a long time! She was kinda embarrassed and looked at me with these sleepy puppy eyes..i almost cried! :) I wouldnt carry her on my lap coz then it would squish all the poop out of the pampers and that would be the end of my fun picnic! :)

Anyway i changed her diapers and then it was time to see the animals. She saw the tiger, the monkey ( which was kinda interesting to her coz thats what we call her alot) :) She got to see the lion and the leopard... And she insisted on touching the Leopard through the security bars and we kept on pullin her away. I guess to her it was just another "BIG" cat to pat!! :)

Then we went to see the Kangarooo... and that was some other experience. She literally kept on running after the kangaroo. She fed him and hopped behind him... putting him sometimes and pinching him other times. The poor kangaroo was so fed up with her he started fighting with his other kangaroo friend!!! :))))

It was an all in all a cute trip... except....for the bus ride both ways... :)

I was SOOOO exhausted by the end of the day.. Couldnt open a single eye or move a muscle! :)

But i must admit.... Leen has really enjoyed everything about it... feeding every kind of animal... Ostrich, Gazelles, Kangaroo and Monkies.

It was totally adorable!!!

The latest Effet!

The latest with leen is her imitating mom. Mom sings to Leen something like... "Hena Leeen 3asaleya... Amooora meyya meyya"

And leen just liked that last part alot.. so all the time she goes and says "mooooora meyya meyya" but ofcourse you wont imagine it unless you hear it. The way she says it is so adorable.

I miss her today... and so does her daddy.

New word

Usually when Leen gives me somethign i say "Merci" and as i mentioned before in previous posts she now says meccii too.

But yesterday i was surprised when she even imitated her dad coz he usually says "shokrun" instead of merci... So yesterday while i was at my parents place.. my mom gave her somethign so she said "Meeci".. and then followed it by.. "Shokun"!

That was just too cute to keep a straight face!! It was adorable

Also, when her cousin was crying and when to her and ask "3ayza eh ya lamar" (ie what do you want lamar?)

After a while when i left them and lamar cried again for some reason.. Leen ran back tot he room askign her "sa Lamar?" (meanig what do u want but in her language ofcourse)

That was new too! It was a good day.. more or less! :)

Eid and Beyond

We went to Ein sokhna in Eid this last week. It was fun since a big part of the family was there.

Leen enjoyed alot since there were lots of kids who were eager to play with her and gifts to exchange.

She also went swimming in the sea for the first time with her daddy. According to him and his bros who were with her in the water, she was extremely hyper and happy... splashing away with every part of her body. She had some arm 3awammat and had fun.

When she woke up the next morning and saw her dad she started telling him "3ayza mayya". She calls the sea mayya (ie water).

Anyway we are back home now and yesterday, im glad to report that she used the potty correctly TWICE in one day! Thats just great news to us!!

Makes sense too!

Went to pickup Leen from the nursery. Her teacher came out with her and wanted to show me what leen calls her. The teachers name is marwa. so she asked her , whats my name leen and she said "wa7a". Now the teacher was telling me... i dont understand how she thinks my name is wa7a. We laughed about it and left.

Later at night when i was on my way home, i started thinking... what is it that Leen heard in her name that made her say wa7a. and what does wa7a actually mean to her.

Then suddenly a light bulb lit over my head and it all made sense. I realized that leen calls the fan "wa7a" which is actually short for the actual word "Marwa7a"... do you see the resemblence?? MARWa7a.

HEHEHEHEHEHEHEH..... she must have felt like the lady has a problem with words and wanted to say her name is marwa7a but said the 1st syllable of the word only so she decided she already knew the real word and called her wa7a!! :)))

Honestly.. these kids are funny. She reminded me of my cousins daughter when she was asking about one of my other cousins names. Her name was "Mishkat". It isnt a very common name so she asked.. "does that mean ... mish (ie not) 2otta (ie cat)?

Thats New!

Yesterday, we were having iftar at y parents place. And while i was in the kitchen helping my mom out, Leen and her niece Lamar asked for french fries. Mom had some already fried so i gave one to each of them.

They kept on comong back for more. One of the times i gave Leen her french fries i said "etfaddaly" and to my surprise she replied " meeceee" (merci)

:)))) i almost laughed my head off. It sounded so cute and too good to be true. So i tried it every time i handed her one and sure enough.. she said Meeeceee!! :)

Totally adorable. I made my husband try to give her one and tell her the same thing and she told him merci too.

So adorable! :)

Potty Success

Lololololololeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey!

This is a day to remember. Today is the first day that leen REALLY scores into the potty.
For the last week or more she used to say potty right after she poops in her pampers. This ofcourse was a success of some kind.. at least everything wont be gooey and icky!

At first we were happy she says potty but then the problem wasn't completely solved yet. So we started to tell her she is naughty even when she says potty but does in the pampers. And we used to put her in the naughty spot.

Ofcourse evey half an hour i remind her that kiko in potty bas and kiko in pampers kekh and naughty.

Anyway today she said 3ayza potty. so i took her and asked her 3amaty kiko fel pampers she said no. And sure enough i took the pampers off and they were clean. I was surprised. So i put her on the potty and gave her something to play with.

After a while.... there she was pooping in the toilet! and danced and clapped and hugged and kissed and did everything i can to convey my happiness to her and how proud i was of her.

She was adorable. I hope this isnt just a fluke and the next time she gets it right too!!! AMEN!

New Night and Day!

YEsterday i was sleeping over at my parents house since its closer to work and my niece goes to the same nursery Leen goes to, so we had a ride.

At night, Leen slept at 8:30pm as usual. I placed her temporarily beside my niece in bed (both sleeping) and then after an hour or so... my sister came out of the room with Leen in her arms all wide awake.

Anyway to make it short... i had a hard time putting her to sleep again coz she expected to be awake and everyone awake too including her best friend my niece who was on her 7th dream by then. She screamed and called for her a million times but i had to shut her up some way or another so she wouldnt wake the other kid too (My sister would have committed a murder hat night if Lamar woke up.. thats my niece). I put her in bed with me, let her play on my mobile and watch some video clips i had on it. Then i fed her and she went to sleep.

What a night it was, i had to wake up every bit to check that she is covered and she is still in bed and didnt fall off since its a normal double bed with no walls blocking either side:) So i would say i had tablespoon full of sleep last night!! (i admit, it wasnt a teaspoon full :))

Anyway, we went to drop the girls to the nursery (After a full of kids morning action) and this was the first time i drop her in person. Its always her dad or in emergencies her grandpa who dropped her. I took both girls while my sister waited in the car and as soon as we went in and i started leaving their hands, Leen started to scream and kick!!

Yeah i didnt see that coming especially that her best friend is with her holding her other hand!! I tried to explain that i am going to work and will be back very soon. But nothing happened.. she kept on crying and reaching out to me. The poor thing... her teacher carried her and told her whats wrong? We will play and have fun! But nothing. SO i just waved bye bye and told her i will come back soon and left.

I dont think she cried too much after that coz by the time i reached the nursery gates i couldnt hear her screams..(oh yes she is loud..i would hear it)

Anyway... it was a lovely night...and morning too. Hope her dad comes soon!!

Potty training ONE day disaster

Well it wasnt that bad..... we just had three Weewee accidents and one Kiko accident. (i felt like i had a dog and was cleanign after him)

And even though everytime i explained that when you want to go you have to sit on the potty, She nods and next thing she is peeing on the ground. Seems to me that she didint have any idea that when she gets this feeling of going something comes out. She just is relieved in some way when something happens. Coz she had the weirdest shocked look on her face when some pee runs down her leg or somethign ELSE falls out of her a$$! :)

The most positive thing she did was do it and then say "Potty"!

Anyway the whole training went down the drain coz i had to go to my parents house on saturday since her dad was travelling... and the 3rd day which was going to be a sunday and thats when her dad was going to handle her is off the list since he wont be here!

Now im not sure what to do? Should i try again next weekend? or wait for another month and try again!! I am honestly not sure. Maybe i will give it a shot next weekend even though its going to be a hectic one since it will be the first weekend in Ramadan!

Oh well lets just wait and see... maybe she will develop more smarts next weekend...Who Knows!

Potty Training Weekend

Today is Leen's first Julie Fellom 3 day potty training.

I have removed the carpets from the ground and places a small washable mat so the floor wont be cold on her now bare bottom.

I have placed the potty in the corner of the room facing the TV so she can sit on it when she wants to. I have placed her toy basket beside the rug in the middle of the room.

i have placed her seat cover on our rocking chair since she likes to sit on it alot.

i explained that when she wants to go weewee or kiko she will go sit on her new red potty.

First thing she did was go sit on it and pull her toys close to her. Now she got up and resumed her activities. I hope she understands and we have no accident today... even though its unlikely!! :) we will see!

Vocals & Tones

Yesterday i had the cook at home. (Yes i dont cook anymore, i have some one whos does that for me and does it so much better too) :)
Anyway, when she was leaving she waved to Leen saying " bye ya Looloo" to which leen waved back and said "Bye loooloo" in the same tone! :)

Then at night her dad was trying to convince her to take a shower so he told her ya leen lets go and tartash (ie splash in the water) Only then did she run to the "ammam" (7ammam) waving her hands beside her in a splashing motion saying "tuttush tuttush". And while her dad gave her the shower, she started imitating every sound he makes... Some are too vocal to be written!!! :) We are obviously a very vocal family!! :)

ANd its so funny when she pukers her lips to make this "Vooo" sound!! :) Its so adorable you wanna bite her!

Lately ive shown her a video of elmo in sesame street with India Arie singing "ABC". Man her voice is amazing. I just love listening to her put some real tune in that song. So leen now says..." 3ayza emmo bc" (3ayza Elmo ABC). And it is so cute to see her try to say abc with the song just mouthing without any sound! Looks like she wants to make sure she can say it on her own first before she can show off! :)

And when the adan (call for prayer) is heard, Her daddy has this SW on his Laptop that plays the Adan on prayer time too and shows a picture of the Ka3ba.. So she goes to listen to it and says adan Abbar (ie Adab Allahu Akbar) and she puts her hand to her mouth like she is calling out for prayer! :)

And when her daddy points to the ka3ba and tells her this is the ka3ba she says "Bagga?" :) Yeah, thats what she heard when he said ka3ba obviously!!! :)

She just surprises us everyday now with somethign new. Its so fun to watch....Fazee3a!

Rabenna ye7fazha ya rub!

Back to Nursery!

Leen has been with us at home for the past 6 days since she had diahrrea and cough.
She was better yesterday so we decided to send her back to the nursery and go to work.
Her dad drops her every morning and she is usually a happy child going to the nursey since she knows she will have fun and play.

This morning however, She cried her eyes out.. kicked and screamed and called for her daddy and kept on saying "ta3ty" (mine mine), Her dad being what belongs to her and what she doesnt wanna part with.

Her daddy called me when he left and he was so sad and devasted that he had to leave her while she called for him like that. Poor Guy! I know how that must feel.

But I'm sure she will be fine when she sees her playmates and the toys again!...
I sure hope she wont have this tantrum as a habit from now on and that this is just coz she's been home for a week.

Oh man...i miss her already... and i know that her dad is yearning to pick her up!

Monkey Business!

This morning and as usual, Leen woke up calling out for her Pappy to drink... This time being very clear and saying ..."Mayyaaaa" (water), and went on crying until her dad got her some water. Anyway, i left for work and her daddy dressed her up to drop her to the nursery.

On their way to the car, they saw the building porter sleeping outside and snoring. He snores extremely loudly. SO she was taken for a minute and pointed at him saying "Dah?" (ie this!!)

So her daddy said.." yes.. this is 3am sed2y" ie the porters name. And then they proceeded to the car. Later on the road, her dad thought of asking her to see her impression of the porter so he asked "what does 3am sed2y sound like?" and to his suprise she replied with a very loud " KHKHKHKHKHKHKHKH" :))

I laughed my head off just thinking about it since he told me she made quite an impressive and accurate imitation of him... very well done! I still can't stop laughing thinking about it! :))

Sure enough our little girl is turning into a little monkey! :)

Pappyyy...BOOOOOO!

Almost every night, if not literally every night, Leen wakes up while we are all asleep, just crying for some reason or another.

So her dad and i made a pact that he will be the one waking up and not me because she will have no option to be fed!! :)

Anyway, every night when she wakes up, her dad (mostly cursing) wakes up and goes to her room with a glass of water and asks her if she wants to drink. She sometimes takes a sip or two and goes back to sleep. Other times she just wants to be touched, so he pats her on the back till she sleeps and other times she just wants to wake up... which is then kind of a problem!

Naturally, anytime she cries, she calls for moooommyyyy...waaaaa. But last night she was very clear as to what she wanted. She cried calling out..."Papppy.... Booooo.... Waaaaaaaaa... Pappyyyy Boooooo waaaaaaa"

He went in and asked her, "are you thirsty ya Leen, so she nodded. Thats how she says yes... just nodding. And since its pitch black in her room and the whole house, her daddy has to put his hand on her head to feel her nods :))))

Sure enough he got up, went to put some water in a glass while she waited quitely in her bed until he came, gave her the water to drink and then went back to sleep.

I think that is extremely cute and its good she can get her message through to us. I also hope she would stop waking up unless she really is thirsty since by now she should have caught up with the idea that there is no way in hell she will be fed at night!!

Please grow out of it dear... we wanna sleep!! :)

Fav. TV shows

When Leen wakes up and wants to watch some cartoons with her morning Didich (sandwich) she says "tooooon" ie cartoon.

She enjoys mickey mouse playhouse a lot. And mostly the hotdog dance. When she hears it she jumps up, dances and claps. And when its finished she says "HoDoog" coz she wants to hear it again. Really cute!

Oh she also loves Baany! (Barney) and ofcourse like everykid i know she loves the "i love you , you love me song" SHe used to go to sleep when i sing it to her.

She likes the imagination movers... again mostly the songs of the show. And since this one has many songs in between, she likes it all. she doesnt get that jump up part of the song coz she sits down when they say jump up! I think its my mistake since i was trying to teach her to bend her legs then jump. I think she understood the leg bending but not the rest of the act :)

Now ofcourse when she stands up on a chair or is just creating too much action for me i tell her to sit down (and thats quite a lot) so now she learnt the word and when i look at her in this annoyed way she will always ask me.... "2o3oody?" and i say yes please 2o3oody 3al korsy ( ie sit in your chair)

We play with her this game called 7ag 7geiga.. so when she wants to play she say "Geega"!

Yesterday she said the whole word "3arabeeya" coz she used to say beeya only. That was cute too.

She is becoming really adorable everyday.

Today we were having lunch at a restaurant and the waiters were playing with her so she gave them such a fake smile like saying "How Amusing" or " Thanks for trying"

She is just adorable :)

Time Flies

Leen started saying Adaaan everytime she hears it.

She also SAYS lots of her body parts. She used to point when we ask but now she says them more often.

She likes watching playhouse disney. And she says "Ktools" for mouse c'tools in mickey mouse playhouse.

She also kinda follows the steps to the song from imagination movers...
"Jump up.... Get down.... STand up.... Turn around, Turn around ,Turn around"

She understands wheni tell her to go throw something in the garbage basket.

It's really fun to watch her understand everything bit by bit.

I can wait till she makes me tea and brings me lunch! :)

Good weird or Bad weird 5 July 2010

YEsterday Leen had all her toys on the ground out of her toy basket. She likes playing alone and with me ofcourse.

However, her favorite part of the day is her bath time since her dad fills the tub and she can play and splash in there for quite a while. So if we say the word "Dosh" or shower she forgets about everything and runs to the bathroom door.

Yesterday though when we asked her if she wanted to shower she said yes (nodding) and when her dad told her ok go to the bathroom she didnt. Instead, she started picking up her toys and putting them back in her basket. WHen she was done she said "Ba7" meaning finished. and then started heading tot he bathroom.

Now i know this is so nice and i should be happy... and i am...
But i was thinking... i did teach her to pick up her toys when she is done but i dont recall i stressed on it THAT much.

IS this normal for a child though? She usually tends to put anything in its place if she is not playing with it anymore. Not everything but most of the things that she knows have a specific place all the time.

I hope this is normal and not some obssessive behaviour!! Even though being clean and tidy is not so bad!! :)

Maybe i should ask her doc! Maybe im the one obsessing!! i dont know!

Oh well... we will find out sooner or later.

Quick Learner 4 July 2010

Leen can now imitate a bee.

She moves her finger around saying ZZZZZZ

And when i ask her to give someone a kiss and she does i usually say "Allaaaah"
Now she does that too.

When she wants to change her diaper and hopefully use the potty, she pats her pampered behind!! :) ADORABLE

Oh forgot to tell you that she says Moon when i point to the picture of the moon and tun when i point to picture of the sun! :)

SHe also finishes my music verse which i cant write down coz its mostly vocals!! :)

Thats the latest update i have for leen's behaviour.

She is really growing up quickly! :)

Leen updates reminder 21 June 2010

Leen can now drink from a glass holding it on her own with both hands. She can even drink slowly sometimes when the cup is full.

She understands what "shebsheb" means and she can bring it to me when i ask. But she calls it "bebesh" (it means slipper). She also carried the rice spoon and the bread basket to the dining table and knows it is called "tarabeiza" (ie table)

She is sick.. the poor thing. We went to the doctor yesterday and her dad kept explaining on the way what is expected to happen at the docs office and told her not to cry and scream. Well she didnt exactly do so.. but she was calmer than usual. No kicking or struggling while the doc was checking her... but she cried.

She is feverish and ha a sour throat. She is getting it too much. Hasn't been more than a month since she got it last.We are back on antibiotic and antihistamine for her runny nose and light cough. Ive been with her since last Thursday... All these days off from work. Don't know if i will stay with her tomorrow too or will my parents be available to take her tomorrow. Don't wanna send her to the nursery of course when she is that sick. Hope she gets better soon! I feel so bad looking at her with high fever like that. She looks so helpless!!

Poor kid. Anyway... wanted to write this entry to remind myself when she started understanding and listening like that
